Sex and the City for small-town Southern gals who like their men red hot, and their beer ice cold...Jamie Lee Carter is living easy in Hootertown, which is teetering on the Tennessee border. No complications until a Hollwyood producer comes to town to scout locations for his new movie. He's got a Jaguar. She's got a pick-up. When these two worlds collide, prepare for sizzle and sparks.

This book is a bit different as it is written in the first person, it is cleverly weaved and the story is written from Jamie Lee Carter's view point, but with all the heat and sizzle you have come to expect in LuAnn's stories..........Jamie Lee is a hairdresser and owns Cut & Curl with her best friend Macy McCoy. When Parker Carrington, a Hollywood producer, arrives in town scouting for locations for his upcoming movie, he puts the small town of Hootertown, Kentucky at the head of the list of prospects. Parker requests Jamie Lee, who has caught his eye and interest as well, to show him around the town and surrounding area. As in all small towns this sets off the healthy and thriving gossip mill as they are seen around town. With the arrival of Parker to town, Jamie Lee and Macy make a pact to make this summer one to remember, as they both are in unrequited love positions. Jamie Lee has always had a crush on Griff Sheldon, who is her brother Luke's best friend, but he only sees her as a friend and little sister of his friend. So she decides that it time to move on with her life...........Griff doesn't like Parker being around Jamie Lee, as he can see the interest that Parker has in Jamie Lee and it does strange things to him. Could it be jealousy that feeling in the pit of his stomach or is going to be too late when he finally acknowledges what he has been ignoring all these years This is a fun, refreshing read that has lots of heat, sparks, sass and good old fashion charm. The secondary characters only add to this well rounded sizzling romance which was a delight to read and keeps you wondering who in the end will win.. I recommend you pick up this book and find out for yourself............as for Macy and her love interest well that is another story.........

Macy's chance for love is slipping from her fingers. College football coach Luke Carter has a penchant for hot-bodied babes, not curvy hairdressers like Macy. And some big-time schools may be luring him away. Then a country singing star's hair emergency turns into a big break for Macy.Making it in Nashville boosts Macy's confidence, but when Luke interviews for a job at a local university, she'll have to put up or shut up—or lose him forever…

I had been anxiously awaiting Macy and Carter’s story and was excited when it was finally available. Sometimes those highly anticipated books just don’t live up to your expectations, but this was surpassed my expectations. This was a wonderful friends to lovers story. It was a beautiful book about finding and appreciating the strength and courage inside of you. Both Luke and Macy are at a point in their lives where a little change makes a big difference. Macy solves a hair emergency for a country music celebrity while she is passing through town and as a result, and ends up in an unexpected place with an unexpected change in career. Luke is in the process of finding a new job which leads to a new location for him as well. I do not remember ever laughing as hard while reading as I did while Macy was making her special dinner for Luke, especially cooking the potato. I had to put the book down for a moment, I was laughing so hard - big huge laughs, not little giggles. Ms. McLane writes the best first person viewpoint stories and this one is no exception.
